What is Women in FM all about?
Networking, Supporting, Encouraging, Developing - From a Different Perspective

The Women in FM SIG has quickly established itself as a group that listens to the needs of its members and the wider BIFM membership, and produces events and programmes to support them.  The SIG prides itself on demonstrating BIFM values and competences, and encouraging both men and women to focus on their continuing professional development.

By being innovative with events held by the group, WiFM has created a programme that addresses the career needs of SIG members, and also allows an element of networking, and more importantly, fun.  In January this year, members were encouraged to complete a short questionnaire, highlighting areas of importance to them, and the WiFM has built forthcoming events around these areas – genuinely listening to the needs of the membership.  Our ongoing events programme now consists of both a series of forums, held in London, and a national programme, in partnership with the BIFM Regions, taking WiFM to a wider audience.

What’s in it for me as a member of the WiFM SIG?
WiFM is not elitist or cliquey – it’s an inclusive and supportive environment.  WiFM offers you many opportunities to network, which will help you to:
• Raise your profile in the industry
• Give and seek advice
• Share successes and learn from other’s experience
• Hear about opportunities – allows for word-of-mouth jobs to reach you
• Grow in confidence
• Contribute by getting involved – a chance to give something back to the industry.

Join the Women in FM SIG (go to www.bifm.org.uk) and you will receive advance notification about all our events.  If you have not yet been to one of our events, why not make a commitment to come to our next one; committee members will be there to offer a friendly face, they can introduce you to other members and help you make the most of your membership.

I look forward to seeing you at one of our forthcoming events; please get in touch if you have any comments or questions about Women in FM.
